Hart and Henne's All-Star Football Challenge to Air on ESPN
Former stars Mike Hart (Syracuse, N.Y./Onondaga Central HS) and Chad Henne (Wyomissing, Pa./Wilson HS) of the University of Michigan football team competed in the State Farm College Football All-Star Challenge scheduled to air on ESPN Saturday (Feb. 2) from 4-6 p.m. The record-setting Wolverine duo participated in the 10th annual skills competition taped Jan. 29 at Arizona State's Sun Devil Stadium.
Henne has had an outstanding New Year, earning Most Valuable Player honors in a pair of games. He was named the Capital One Bowl Most Valuable Player after completing 25-of-39 passes for 373 yards and three touchdowns passes against the Florida Gators on New Year's Day (Jan. 1). Henne earned North Offensive MVP honors after completing 5-of-9 passes for 63 yards and tossed a game-high two touchdown passes in the 2008 Under Armour Senior Bowl (Jan. 26). Henne set U-M career marks in attempts (1,387), completions (828), yards (9,715) and touchdowns (87).
Mike Hart led the ground game with 32 carries for 129 yards and a pair of rushing touchdowns against the Gators. He finished with U-M career rushing records for attempts (1,015), yards (5,040), 100-yard rushing games (28), 150-yard rushing games (12) and yards per game (117.2 avg.). Hart finished third with 41 career rushing touchdowns.
Produced by Chicago-based Intersport, the State Farm College Football All-Star Challenge is a unique skills-and-drills competition that tests the finest college football stars in the country prior to their entry into the NFL. Players participate in a variety of competitions showcasing their speed, agility, strength and stamina. The competition has produced over 30 first round selections in the NFL Draft during the nine-year history of the event.
Former Wolverine wide receiver Braylon Edwards and tailback Anthony Thomas competed in the all-star competition in past seasons.
